🥂Cheers to nontoxic products
Everything in my bathroom right now
Hey guys,
And welcome into my bathroom!
So personal, I know, but when I first started learning about nontoxic living, I would’ve killed to know exactly what it looked like to live this way on a daily basis.
Instead I had to catch clips from long conversations here and there for years before finally finding an alternative for everything I needed.
And it took me awhile to actually grasp how completely unnecessary so many things are that we’ve been trained to buy on automatic—like mouthwash… Like, why in the world would anyone spend any amount of money on a product that does nothing but HARM you??
I did it too because that’s what we were told to do… So that’s what we did… Without question.
So here you have it, just me, Jaclyn here đź‘‹, on the mic solo this week, sharing every single product I currently have and use morning and night.
Because let’s be real, Levi is not the one out here buying soap for our home.
And thankfully, he was never one to fight me to keep his toxic Old Spice. He fully embraced every time I found a healthier option and continues to let me make the buying decisions for our home.
So if you’re interested in feeling a weight lifted from your body and the fog cleared from your eyes that naturally happens when your body no longer has so many chemicals to sort through, this episode is for you.
In the newest episode of Cheers to Growth, I’m sharing:
The only nontoxic personal care brands I use
How I phased out toxic products without stressing
And why your bathroom is the perfect place to start
Enjoy the conversation and cheers! 🥂
What I drank in this episode: Lemon balm and hibiscus tea. (Get dried loose leaf herbs and steep and strain with metal to avoid plastic and bleached tea bags.)
Pre-recording dinner recipe: Stuffed Bell Peppers
Recommended: Pick up a few different colored bell peppers at the farmer’s market and grab some seed oil free chips to test out your salsa!
Stuffed Bell Peppers
While my husband’s away, this is the easiest, coziest meal to cook for yourself and it’s great for leftovers throughout the week!
Ingredients:
- 6 bell peppers
- 1 lb ground beef
- dried black beans
- raw cheddar
- 1 cup rice & bone broth to cook rice in
- EVOO
- Seasonings: paprika, oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, thyme, S + P
Ingredients for salsa:
- 6 tomatoes
- 3 jalapeño
- 1 serrano
- 1 habanero
- 1 bunch of garlic
- handful of cilantro
- 3 stalks of green onion
- juice of 1 lime
- Salt
Directions:
Prep: Soak black beans in water overnight.
1. Drain black beans and cover about 2 inches over the top with new water. Bring to a boil.
2. Once boiling, turn down to a simmer, cover, and simmer for about 2 hours.
3. Start making the salsa by roasting tomatoes, peppers, and garlic until the skin lightly chars. (Levi did this on the grill for me the day before, but you can just use the oven if the grill is too much.)
4. Throw into a blender with the rest of the ingredients. Taste test with chips!
5. When your beans only need about 30 more minutes to simmer, you can start on the bell peppers. Cut the tops off and remove the seeds.
6. Coat bell peppers with EVOO and bake at 375 for about 20 minutes.
7. Cook ground beef in a pan with 1 tbsp melted ghee or EVOO. Mix in all seasonings as it cooks.
8. Wash then cook rice in bone broth.
9. Mix in a large bowl: Cooked rice, meat, beans, and a few spoonfuls of salsa.
10. Fill bell peppers with the mixture. Then top with shredded cheddar.
11. Bake at 350 for 10-15 minutes.
12. Serve and enjoy!
