🥂 Cheers to Getting Pregnant Exactly When You Want To

Complete pregnancy announcement & what steps led here

Today’s topic is Fertility: getting pregnant exactly when you want to, without any issues. And for those who don’t want to be pregnant anytime soon, know that high fertility is a sign of thriving health.

I’m so excited to be sharing meaningful conversations between my husband and I again.

I find so much value and insight when I step away from a conversation with him, so I’m grateful to share that same energy with you on our podcast, Cheers to Growth.

Fertility is a huge topic and it’s highly sensitive.

But if you’ve caught on by now, Levi and I don’t do sensitive.

We say it how we see it and if you take offense, that’s your own journey.

When it comes to fertility, there’s tons of talk about how nearly impossible it is for even supposedly healthy people to get pregnant these days. I think that talk is highly interesting. But I also think it does us no favors.

I scheduled my plan for pregnancy two years prior and I left no room for anything but my desired outcome.

Yeah yeah, I get it. Life doesn’t always go how you plan, but you know what else???

It’s almost GUARANTEED to not go how you want it to if you focus all your energy and attention on the fear of it not happening.

I find that when you take intentional action confidently and enthusiastically towards your desired outcome, your chances are pretty great.

Your future always turns out to be a version of what you focus on.

So knowing what I know about health, I couldn’t just be the girl who thinks positively and trusts that it’ll all work out perfectly without also actively doing everything I know is best for my health.

So in this conversation, we’re diving into every single life change we made over the course of 2 years in order to prepare our bodies for peak fertility so that we would conceive our baby at the exact month that we wanted.

I don’t believe in luck. I do believe in the power of mindset paired with aligned actions.

Here are some of the topics we discuss together:

  • Getting off birth control and all pharmaceutical meds

  • When homesteading and nontoxic lifestyle came into play

  • Changing our relationship to alcohol

  • Ditching nicotine

  • When and at what frequency I incorporated prenatal supplements

  • What role food and diet plays

  • How mindset and dealing with fears will make or break this entire process

This Week’s Recipe

Dates are seen by many as a fertility superfood, most powerful to support conception and then again during the third trimester to strengthen the uterus for birth.

This recipe is one I’ve brought back from my college years when I was obsessed with “healthy alternatives”.

This approach to food is not something I align with anymore, but I thought these were a nice treat to incorporate occasionally that didn’t stray too far from the way I eat today.

These chewy, melty, chocolatey delights are so so dreamy.

No Bake Date Cookies (Healthy Girl Scout Samoas Copycat) 🍫🥥

What you’ll need:

- Dates

- Shredded coconut

- Peanut butter (Or nut butter of choice. I’ve used tahini or almond butter, but I think peanut butter gives it that classic flavor. Make sure the only ingredient is organic peanuts.)

- Dark Chocolate (I use the brand Alter Eco in the flavor Classic Blackout for a clean ingredient list)

- Coconut oil

- Sea salt

Directions:

*Sometimes I forget this step so if you want to, first spread coconut flakes on a sheet pan and bake in the oven until they turn a light golden brown.

1. Add pitted dates, peanut butter, and shredded coconut to a blender. (I just eyeball the amounts, maybe like 6-8 dates and a big spoonful of peanut butter)

2. Form dough balls. The mixture should stick together easily, if not, adjust the ingredient amounts and blend again.

3. Flatten the dough balls and place on a cookie sheet.

4. Melt chocolate and coconut oil in a saucepan.

5. Either dip the cookies in chocolate, or drizzle chocolate on top depending on how much you want on each cookie.

6. Sprinkle sea salt over the melted chocolate.

7. Place cookies in the freezer until the chocolate is hardened, then move to the fridge and keep stored in there until you’re ready to eat.
